The LENOVO ThinkSystem RAID 530-8i is a high-performance, entry-level internal RAID adapter designed for small to medium business server environments. Featuring a PCIe 3.0 x8 low-profile form factor, it supports up to eight internal SAS or SATA drives with transfer speeds up to 12 Gb/s. This cacheless RAID controller (non-upgradeable) delivers robust and reliable RAID levels including RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, and 50, as well as JBOD (non-RAID) configurations.

Built on the proven Broadcom MegaRAID 9440 adapter family architecture, the RAID 530-8i supports intermixing of 12 Gb/s and 6 Gb/s drives, though mixing SAS and SATA drives or mixing HDDs and SSDs within the same array is not supported. With the addition of a SAS expander, it can manage up to 63 physical drives and create up to 32 virtual drives, accommodating growing storage needs.

Management and configuration are streamlined through multiple Lenovo tools, including XClarity Provisioning Manager (UEFI), XClarity Controller Web Interface, XClarity Administrator, StorCLI CLI, and LSI Storage Authority GUI, providing flexibility and ease of use for administrators.

Additional features include support for 512e, 512n, and 4K sector drives, TRIM and UNMAP commands for SSD maintenance, and advanced drive diagnostic capabilities to reduce unnecessary replacements and server downtime. Note that the adapter does not support CacheCade acceleration technology.
