The Sophos 5G Module (Gen.2) is a specialized slot-in cellular expansion module designed exclusively for compatible Sophos XGS 118(w), XGS 128(w), and XGS 138 desktop appliances. It enables ultra-fast 5G Sub-6 connectivity with automatic fallback to 4G LTE Cat-20 and 3G networks, ensuring reliable and seamless cellular access where wired connections might be limited or unavailable.

This module comes equipped with four cable-connected antennas to optimize coverage and signal quality. Managed directly through the Sophos Firewall OS console, it integrates with native firewall features for monitoring, configuration, and WAN failover policies, making it ideal for enhancing network resilience with redundant or failover cellular links or serving as a 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) solution.

Only a single worldwide Gen.2 SKU is offered, simplifying deployment across multiple regions (note that some carrier or regional certifications may be required). Installation requires powering off the appliance as the module is not hot-swappable. To fully leverage Gen.2 functionality, ensure your Sophos XGS appliance runs the minimum required SFOS firmware versions.
